When purchasing a kit from Mojotone, you will receive the following documentation.

1. Schematic

2. Wiring Diagram / Layout

If you purchase a kit from Mojotone and do not receive these documents, you can obtain copies by emailing tech@mojotone.com or calling 800-927-6656. The Mojotone staff is available Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. EST unless otherwise closed.

Mojotone kits include the best quality parts that are available at the time of purchase. If a substitution is required, our team will use parts that are of equal quality to ensure the integrity of the kit build remains the same.

Building a fully functional amplifier kit is not an easy task. Before building a kit, one should have the ability to properly solder as well as read and understand a schematic and wiring diagram. While we do our very best to ensure all documentation is current, the included documentation is meant to serve as an overall guide to building the amplifier. Simply following the schematic and wiring diagram does not guarantee you will have a fully functional amplifier. In fact, post build troubleshooting is a common issue across all builds.

Our staff is available to assist with basic troubleshooting needs. There are plenty of online videos available that are helpful with most post build issues. Technical staff is available via email by sending a message to tech@mojotone.com. You may also call our sales team to discuss build problems, dial 800-927-6656 and press 1 for sales.

Building a tube amplifier takes time, dedication, resources and most importantly... Skills! The experience of building an amp can come with some frustration, the reward of completing the build is definitely well worth your time. Please review the wiring diagram, schematic and manual (if applicable) prior to making your purchase. Mojotone will not accept any returns on amplifier kits and/or parts that have been assembled, soldered or modified.

Great tone!

"Great tone and well worth the time to build. I did add a few modifications. Turret board, dual bias mod, standard 1. 4" output jacks and F&T filter caps. I eventually got the two 12 tweed cabinet, which is excellent also, and loaded it with two 12" Eminence legends. It is a great sounding amp and I couldn't be happier with the outcome. All of the parts were great quality."

A great kit for an excellent amp

"This is an awesome sounding amp! Very versatile. I found it to be a reasonably easy build. I did find the bias resistor was too high given today’s wall voltage and biased the amp a bit on the cold side. Perfectly usable but I went ahead an changed it for a hotter bias. I’m amazed at the low noise level and the great sound. Well worth the effort."

Excellent Kit for a Late 50's Tweed Bassman

"The quality of parts in this kit is excellent. The beauty of building an amp like this is, you can easily swap parts and tweak until your hearts content. I built this using all the stock parts that came in the kit, and it is amazing sounding. Never played an original Tweed Bassman but have played a 50's Tweed Deluxe and Tremolux from the same era. This amp sounds fantastic. The clean tones are dynamic, rich, and complex. Pushing this amp into saturation is crazy amazing. It is an iconic addition to any amp collection."

I'm Never Getting Rid Of This Amp

"I got this amplifier kit as my first kit from Mojotone. I've never built an amp before and even as a beginner it was a breeze to put together. Pros- Easy to build Sounds Unreal A very clean amp Takes pedals like nothing Cons- can't be converted to a head without serious modification to the circuit I use a mid-scooped tone, and even though everything I've seen/read about tweed amps say they are mid-focus I get the perfect mid-scooped tones. Would buy an amp head version of this."

this one's a keeper

"I finished building my 5f6-a a few days ago. Since then, if I haven't been playing it I've been thinking about playing it! The tone is gorgeous. Customer service was quick to respond and very professional. Thanks Mojotone this one's a keeper."

Great amp

"I bought the amp built by Mojo. Build quality was first rate. The amp fired right up and sounds glorious. Great amp. As good or better than any other amp of this type that I've tried and I've tried quite a few. I highly recommend it."

I couldn't be happier!

"I recently built the Bassman Tweed kit and it is fabulous. Everyone who has heard this amp is blown away. Everything about this kit is absolutely first rate -- the cabinet, chassis, components, etc. I couldn't be happier!"

Happy customer

"The 5F6-A Bassman's rep as one of the best amplifier designs ever made is well deserved. Try as I might to find its shortcomings, as I can with so many other Fender and other designs, I just can't. It's perfect. The perfect design and the perfect sound. While perhaps being too large and loud to get over drive at reasonable volume, the overdrive is pure rock nirvana and the cleans a spanky clear. Mojo does the amp justice. Correct parts, all of high quality, including correct transformers. I dare say this is their best kit. Now strap on your techno-geek helmets because I'm about to nerd out (just picture me pushing my taped horned rims up on my nose as I say this to you) but - the Bassman can be man different amps. First there was the 5F6 - notable mostly because it had a second gain stage (basically a 25uf cap which you will see is deleted on the 5F6-A layout). This cap adds mondo gain. It's a simple swap - so add one to your order. Most importantly - this kit is supplied with Audio Taper pots. The Bassman only used an audio taper on the bass control - the rest had the faster taper of a Linear Pot. This is not a subtle point. It's night and day - add some Alpha Linear pots to your order as well. Now the 5F6-A as drawn on the layout is said almost not to exist in real life - or if so few examples have ever surfaced. As drawn you will have a mid heavy amp that is very much in the Hendrix vein. It should be because Marshall copied this circuit as we all know. Most 5F6-A Bassman had a different middle and bass cap value (.02 and .1 respectively) as well as a 100K slope Resistor. As well as a 6.8K tail Resistor to replace the 10K on the negative feedback loop (will increase gain slightly). The Presence control also used a 25K linear pot and a 4.7K Resistor to ground (this is not that important a change I don't think). I will leave it to you as to determine where these parts go but I will tell you, should you want to hear the different voices the Bassman had to offer, historically - it gives you the option of deciding which you like best as well as gives you the chance to mix things up now and then when the mood strikes. All in all a great quality kit from Mojo. They always stand behind their products and are always interested in how to improve them. No affiliation - just a happy customer. Now back to playing my Mojo Bassman! Just had to pause to write how great it is."
