British Style NC3015 Guitar Tube Amp Kit

INSPIRATION
Inspired by some of history's most iconic British amps (and a couple of unmatched boutique ones) the Mojotone NC3015 is one of our most unique and articulate amps yet. Based on a familiar Class A EL84 platform, this amp delivers tones that salute some of the greatest guitarists of all time. Whether you're looking for the shimmering highs of George Harrison or Brian May, the jangle and chime of Mike Campbell, or the vintage crunch of bands like The Kinks, the careful design and component choice of the NC3015 will not leave you wanting.

The jumping off point for the NC3015 was the tone stack/preamp section of a classic Mid 60s 30-Watt EL84 AC type amp married with a 15-Watt power amp- hence the name NC3015, We felt this would give players the tonal control they wanted and the power amp saturation they desired without being too loud for most applications.

SOUND & VISION
The NC3015 utilizes two EL84 power tubes and three 12AX7 preamp tubes –delivering 15 Watts of classic EL84/AC tone reminiscent of the famed glassy British sound without being too harsh or sterile. We chose an EZ81 tube rectifier for slight compression at higher SPLs.For our kit, we chose our Mojotone BV-30V 60W speaker to complete the British vibe. It has a nice smooth tone at lower volumes and breaks up beautifully as you increase the amp's volume.

Enjoy the balanced sound and ease of use of the normal channel (high and low inputs with single volume control), or switch to the top boost channel for a slightly more aggressive sound with additional tone controls (high and low inputs with volume, treble, and bass controls). The amp also features a top cut control that works with both channels to give you a variety of sonic profiles to work with. We excluded tremolo and reverb in this kit as we wanted to provide a straight up, easy to build, easy to use amp that has great EL84 AC Type tones.

When purchasing a kit from Mojotone, you will receive the following documentation.

1. Schematic

2. Wiring Diagram / Layout

If you purchase a kit from Mojotone and do not receive these documents, you can obtain copies by emailing tech@mojotone.com or calling 800-927-6656. The Mojotone staff is available Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. EST unless otherwise closed.

Mojotone kits include the best quality parts that are available at the time of purchase. If a substitution is required, our team will use parts that are of equal quality to ensure the integrity of the kit build remains the same.

Building a fully functional amplifier kit is not an easy task. Before building a kit, one should have the ability to properly solder as well as read and understand a schematic and wiring diagram. While we do our very best to ensure all documentation is current, the included documentation is meant to serve as an overall guide to building the amplifier. Simply following the schematic and wiring diagram does not guarantee you will have a fully functional amplifier. In fact, post build troubleshooting is a common issue across all builds.

Our staff is available to assist with basic troubleshooting needs. There are plenty of online videos available that are helpful with most post build issues. Technical staff is available via email by sending a message to tech@mojotone.com. You may also call our sales team to discuss build problems, dial 800-927-6656 and press 1 for sales.

Building a tube amplifier takes time, dedication, resources and most importantly... Skills! The experience of building an amp can come with some frustration, the reward of completing the build is definitely well worth your time. Please review the wiring diagram, schematic and manual (if applicable) prior to making your purchase. Mojotone will not accept any returns on amplifier kits and/or parts that have been assembled, soldered or modified.

Very Fun, Sounds Great

"So happy I finally bought this. Built some of it with my son. Had a blast. I agree that you should look at the more detailed instructions from the TMB 18watt kit. It helped with some of the things I might not have thought of. It sounds exactly like I would want it to sound and can’t wait to be able to get the next kit."

Unique and beautiful

"Surprisingly easy build and sounds amazing. Very different sound than the Fender amps I’m used to. Great high end without the ice pick. I use it with a Catalinbread Topanga reverb pedal and it’s all you could ask for."

Love this amp

"This kit was a lot of fun to build and resulted in a great amp. I wish it had a master volume but that's a fairly easy modification."

AC15 KIT

"All good. I'mm a babylearnerbeginner at electronics, but having fun assembling my amp's chassis. Quality components and materials. Modded for EF86 tubes in the preamp stage, and will be adding a Vib-Trem circuit vs. the stock second channel. Thank you, Mojotone!"

Clear and brilliant

"This thing sound amazing, and it was a real blast to build. The brilliant channel is clear and bright without sounding brittle. This is the first non-Fender amp I've had, and I never realized how different they sound; both are lovely, just different (like Ginger and Maryanne!)."

Awesome amp. Awesome concept.

"What an awesome amp. A/C 30 tones at a lower volume. Genius concept. This was my first build from just a wiring diagram and no instructions. Having kit building experience it was not difficult at all. Worked first time I powered it up. Customer service and tech support are above and beyond. Thank you to the Mojotone team."

Lovely sounds,easy build.

"I built a bunch of stompboxes over the past few years, and decided it was time to build an amp. Once I got started, I didn’t want to stop. I spent 3 evenings working late to finish it. On lighting it up, I found that the volume would go away almost completely if I turned the brilliant channels pot past 8. The pot itself felt bad and would stick at that setting. I ordered a new pot and that fixed it. I’m quite happy with it. I don’t need extreme volume these days, and this amp suits what I play, plenty loud enough. Sometimes I run this with another amp, and the stereo setup is beautiful. Thanks Mojotone!!"

Incredible British-Inspired Tones!

"Another glowing review for this kit! After building a dozen or so Fender-inspired amps, I got the itch for something British. I had been thinking fondly of an old AC30 I used to have many years ago and decided to jump on this kit. I'm so glad I did, because it really delivers the Vox sound! It's loud, articulate, chimey.. and the amp's drive is to die for! This kit is definitely a winner."

The amp fired up, sounding awesome the first time

"I was hesitant at first to try this kit, because there were no reviews online, and only 1-2 references to the kit at all. The latest rev of wiring diagram and schematic is 100% accurate, and I had no issues. The amp fired up, sounding awesome the first time- exactly like in the mojo youtube video. Especially since I mainly play tele/semi-hollowbody. One thing I did that helped a LOT was to download the detailed instructions for the 18W British combo. Obviously the schematic/components are different, but the kit is similar enough that you can follow the ORDER of the 18W combo, and answer any questions regarding the mechanics (i.e. where do washers/nuts go for different switches, transformers, do I put jacks in before or after turret board, what wires should be twisted, etc.). I probably would have struggled a bit without doing that."

Killer AC30 Tone

"This review is for the NC3015 kit without the cabinet and speaker. I used the Rev 5 drawings and everything fired up and worked great right off the bat. I had an old AC15CC cabinet and a very broken in 16 year old Celestion Blue inside that I decided to repurpose for the NC3015 chassis. I wish I could post pictures here but I’ll get some up on the Mojotone FB page…anyway it all came together and the amp sounds incredible…VERY Vox-y and articulate. My early favorite tone from this amp is jumpering the Normal and Brilliant channels together. The Normal channel is big and thick and the Brilliant channel gives the classic Vox sound. The Top Cut effects both channels and the Bass and Treble pots on the Brilliant channel are very interactive just like the AC30 tone stack it emulates."
