Blackface Deluxe Reverb® Style Guitar Tube Amp Kit

One of our most popular amps, the Mojotone Deluxe Reverb Style Kit, is based on arguably the most widely used guitar amp of all time. Just about every iconic guitarist imaginable has played through a Deluxe Reverb at some point or another, but this amp has been specifically touted by artists such as Mike Campbell, Vince Gill, Jackson Brown, and even Elvis Costello.

Considered by some a perfect pedal platform amp, this simple 22 watt circuit pairs well with our Mojotone Anthem 12” speaker. This combination provides a foundation for crystal clear note separation with a full and warm body. Experience the classic chime of a Deluxe Reverb and take advantage of the multiple inputs, two channels, and beautiful onboard reverb and tremolo effects.

There are two inputs on the normal channel -- input 1 is slightly hotter than input 2 giving a guitarist the option to connect multiple guitars whose pickups have different output levels, without having to adjust the amp’s volume levels. The normal channel is extremely user friendly and straightforward with only three controls -- volume, treble, and bass. The Vibrato channel also has two inputs which work the same way as those on the normal channel. Similarly, the Vibrato channel contains volume, treble, and bass, but also houses the controls for reverb level as well as tremolo speed and intensity.

Mojotone reserves the right to change or substitute any and all of the parts contained in this amplifier kit without advertisement or notification to the buyer. Part substitutions made by Mojotone are guaranteed not to affect the integrity or operation of your amplifier kit. Time estimates listed are from start to finish. If you are new to tube amplifiers, additional time may need to be factored.

When purchasing a kit from Mojotone, you will receive the following documentation.

1. Schematic

2. Wiring Diagram / Layout

If you purchase a kit from Mojotone and do not receive these documents, you can obtain copies by emailing tech@mojotone.com or calling 800-927-6656. The Mojotone staff is available Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. EST unless otherwise closed.

Mojotone kits include the best quality parts that are available at the time of purchase. If a substitution is required, our team will use parts that are of equal quality to ensure the integrity of the kit build remains the same.

Building a fully functional amplifier kit is not an easy task. Before building a kit, one should have the ability to properly solder as well as read and understand a schematic and wiring diagram. While we do our very best to ensure all documentation is current, the included documentation is meant to serve as an overall guide to building the amplifier. Simply following the schematic and wiring diagram does not guarantee you will have a fully functional amplifier. In fact, post build troubleshooting is a common issue across all builds.

Our staff is available to assist with basic troubleshooting needs. There are plenty of online videos available that are helpful with most post build issues. Technical staff is available via email by sending a message to tech@mojotone.com. You may also call our sales team to discuss build problems, dial 800-927-6656 and press 1 for sales.

Building a tube amplifier takes time, dedication, resources and most importantly... Skills! The experience of building an amp can come with some frustration, the reward of completing the build is definitely well worth your time. Please review the wiring diagram, schematic and manual (if applicable) prior to making your purchase. Mojotone will not accept any returns on amplifier kits and/or parts that have been assembled, soldered or modified.

AB763 Deluxe Reverb Kit

"Amazing sound, matches any Fender I have owned or built. Very happy with this build. The kit was complete, no missing parts and well organized. I decided to use a Weber 12F150, 8 ohm, 50 watt, light dope speaker. This kit is not for the faint of heart as there is a lot going on. The amp section is straight forward Fender but the addition of tremolo and reverb requires the builder to concentrate. Suggest double checking your work, resting between obvious transition points and perhaps getting a second set of eyes when build is complete. I mostly worked an hour or so then walked away. . . having said that the amp fired up perfectly when done. I did make a couple minor changes to the amp kit that in no way reflect poorly on the kit, I did the mods mostly out of habit. I added two 1N4007 diode going into the rectifier tube for extra protection, added bias resistors to the amp, 1 ohm 2 watt resistors from pin 8 to ground on the power tubes and added a brass grounding plate. I have a ton of . 015 thousands brass shim stock laying around to use up and the the ground plate looks cool. . . this mod is in no way necessary, the ground buss soldered to back of pot's is just as quiet. Be sure to reference the schematic. . . living off a build layout is hard living. hkl"

The kit comes with good

"The kit comes with good quality parts. The main yellow wire could use additional length to it. Had 2 tubes go bad. The rectifier (mojo replaced) and a 12AT7 (I have plenty) fortunately I have a tube tester. All in all it's a good kit for an experienced builder."

Deluxe Reverb Blackface

"I love this amp , it’s a keeper the first kit I ever built and it went smooth just a bad rectifier tube . Mojotone replaced it right away"

Convenient Build!

"The Deluxe Reverb is a Phenomenal Amp. I have built amps sourcing the individual parts in the past, but and having all the parts put together in a convenient kit make building a breeze! The only down side is that it is easy to forget to order any parts you might need for mods or variations from the original."

There is a reason it’s the most recorded amp!

"This was my second build and it was extremely rewarding to hear it sing when I finished it! Everything was perfect, the packaging for the small parts and hardware is genius! You can tell as soon as you open it up it’s top quality! Building a 5e3 previously was a great lead up to this amp! The wiring diagram included is very detailed and super helpful!"

Incredible Amp, Rewarding Build Experience

"Bottom line, I now have the amp I've always wanted with the added experience of how to build/repair it! The sound of this amp is incredible! The pure clean tone of a Deluxe Reverb is probably only matched by other blackface style amps. Also, the breakup at higher volumes is just gorgeous. My only real gripe was the capacitor selection. Granted, I know that there is a disclaimer saying that parts provided could vary in branding, but I was really hoping that the caps would be Sprague/Orange drop for my first build, like the pictures indicate. I'm sure that the provided Mojo-branded caps would produce an excellent sounding amp, but after hearing similar amps utilizing Sprague caps, I knew I would always wonder. So, I sourced and used the capacitors I wanted. No issues with any of the other parts provided. All them are top notch and extremely well organized. Thanks Mojotone for an awesome project!"

Nice kit, some minor nuances

"Overall, great kit, high quality parts. Some say there is not enough wire but if you use lengths specified in a stewmac manual for a similar kit then you will have some wire left, you might want to swap some colors tho. My kit came with 2 wrong tubes that were replaced promptly by customer support. However preamp tubes I got are microphonic, at least half of them. I am not sure if I should reach out to the customer support and how normal this is since this is my first kit. I know some tube sellers ask for extra to verify that tubes they send are not microphonic. Initially I got a pretty bad hum in reverb circuit, I looked for ground loops, toothpicked every component and wire then suddenly knocked that pedal and realized noise gone. Apparently I have some noise coming from below the floor and that pedal is not shielded well. I applied foil with an insulating layer of a duct tape to the inner side of the plastic cover and noise is gone now, the amp is pretty much silent at idle"

Money well spent.

"Kit was fun to build. Amp sounds great. This was my second build a little harder than the last one which was a 5E3 from another manufacture but if you have some experience with electronics it was not to difficult. I would not recommend this for a 1st build. Try something a little less difficult at first. I emailed a question about bias setting on the build and got a responce back in just a few hours. AWESOME....I will be looking to do a 18w Marshall clone soon and will get from Mojotone. Money well spent."

This is a fantastic kit.

"This is a fantastic kit. The parts are all high quality and the cab is flawless. It took me six enjoyable days to complete. I am retired, so I can spend as much or as little time working on it as I wanted. Having built 20 amps, two of which were kits and the rest were scratch, I do have some experience. The large layout diagram that was included was helpful to my aging eyes. I also referred to the instructions on the Stew Mac website for wire lengths. Time to play, then get it ready to give away."

I love you mojo, but you don't make it easy

"Great sounding kit, but there are a lot of little things that turn a fun build into a hassle. I have built a few mojo kits and I have reoccurring things here. Never enough self tapping screws to mount all the turret boards as well as the dog house. I'm not sure whether they just didn't have it in stock or what but I didn't get any other wire other than the heater and speaker wire and yellow wire (I expected a few different colors like you would find in a deluxe say maybe for the filter cap board.) The mounting hardware I did get seemed a little weak sauce for the transformers. Also the main filter cap board and the main turret board are not drilled for mounting. Now for the big deal, the chassis basically doesn't fit the cab, one side slides in great, but the other side binds on the tolex. If I have to smack it with a mallet to get it to fit there is an issue. Lead times are not accurate. Didn't receive a copy of cap board layout. Sheessh"
