Hi, I’ve had mine since new, don’t understand all the bad reviews I see of these things. I love the 1/4 power mode, love the foot switchable effects loop (that I use as a boost). I agree that it needs to be loud ( and it is loud even in the 1/4 power mode). When I bought mine I had a fender tone master 412 cab with v30’s (still got it) and it sounded far better than the Jensen (IMO). I yanked out the Jensen and put a v30 in the combo too, it was a massive improvement to the amp and have never looked back. I also put a lower output preamp tube for the gain, and I think it’s made it better again(was too dirty on gain channel)I normally use the 412 cab, but if venue is small the 112 by itself is huge. Love the included casters and tilt back legs and nice canvas cover too. I’ve tried to find better, but keep coming back to the pro reverb, it’s a good all rounder, don’t read the reviews and write them off, if you see one plug it in and decide for yourself. DC

Daniel,

I bought mine new in 2005. I just use the clean channel and rely on a pedal for overdrive. The cleans are fat, snappy, and warm with great definition. There’s plenty of power, even at the 12-watt setting, which is what I use most of the time. I use it in the studio as well as for bar and outdoor festival gigs — when I’m outdoors, I run it at full volume. The reverb does get noisy above 4 and hums quite badly around 7 or 8, to the point where it becomes unusable. I usually keep the reverb around 1 or 2, so it’s not an issue for me. From what I’ve read online, there’s an inherent problem with the reverb circuit. No tech I’ve found has been able to completely fix it, but you can tame it by using a lower-power tube in the reverb socket. It’s a great amp — very heavy, but the tone far outweighs any negatives. The sound improves even more with a speaker swap, though I’m still using the stock Jensen and have no plans to change anything. A little-known fact: you can use the loop button as a clean boost and adjust the amount of boost using the control on the back panel. Another big plus is that it has external bias and balance pots, so tube changes take about ten minutes and can be done easily on your own.

Dominic,

I have a 2002 Pro Reverb Reissue, and I think it’s a great amp. It’s definitely a beast to carry around, but aside from that, it’s an amazing-sounding piece of gear. I’m having a problem with it now, though, and it has me scratching my head. I was using the amp a couple of weeks ago when all of a sudden—no output! I took out the tubes and had them tested; one was completely dead, and two more were weak. I replaced all three of them (they were 12AX7s) and thought for sure that had solved the problem. But when I brought the tubes home and installed them, the same issue was still there. I say there’s no output, but I think it might actually be an input problem. When I tap on the tubes, I can hear the tapping through the speaker, and when I flip the output switch to full, I can hear a slight hiss in the speaker get louder. Any suggestions on what the problem might be would be greatly appreciated! —Craig

Craig,

The reverb driver is a 12AT7. On the tube chart inside your amp its number V7. All other preamp tubes on this amp are 12AX7’s so it’s not tough to find it.

Robert Rockford,

I have this amp and the reverb is making a lot of noise. I want to change the 2 tubes for the reverb/vibrato but I don’t know which ones they are. Can you help?

Rick,
