Great circuit
"Great circuit, easy to build. I took 1 star do to having to replace a preamp tube socket. This amp is awesome, I'm 71 played a lot of amps. This is by far the most expressive, can go from clean to big muff with your attack."
The Mojotone Tweed Deluxe® 5E3 Style Guitar Tube Amp Kit is based on the legendary 1950s 5E3 circuit and remains our best-selling amplifier kit for good reason. Originally designed as a medium-power amplifier capable of handling multiple instruments, the 5E3 quickly became famous for its rich, touch-sensitive breakup and harmonically complex overdrive.
At higher volumes, this amp delivers the saturated, dynamic tones that defined the sound of players like Billy Gibbons, Neil Young, Don Felder, and Larry Carlton—making it equally at home in the studio, rehearsal space, or on smaller stages.
Powered by two 6V6 output tubes, a 12AY7, and a 12AX7 preamp tube, the 5E3 circuit strikes the perfect balance between simplicity and expressive tonal depth. It’s easy to maintain, highly responsive to player dynamics, and just a microphone away from being ready for larger venues.
This Tweed Deluxe® style amp features two Normal channel inputs and two Bright channel inputs, each with its own volume control. The channels can be jumpered and blended together, unlocking a wide range of classic and creative tones. A single global tone control allows for intuitive shaping without the need for complex EQ adjustments.
For an authentic yet enhanced pairing, we recommend combining this kit with our Mojotone Anthem 12 speaker, which complements the 5E3 circuit while preserving its historic tonal character.

When purchasing a kit from Mojotone, you will receive the following documentation.
1. Schematic
2. Wiring Diagram / Layout
If you purchase a kit from Mojotone and do not receive these documents, you can obtain copies by emailing tech@mojotone.com or calling 800-927-6656. The Mojotone staff is available Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. EST unless otherwise closed.

Building a fully functional amplifier kit is not an easy task. Before building a kit, one should have the ability to properly solder as well as read and understand a schematic and wiring diagram. While we do our very best to ensure all documentation is current, the included documentation is meant to serve as an overall guide to building the amplifier. Simply following the schematic and wiring diagram does not guarantee you will have a fully functional amplifier. In fact, post build troubleshooting is a common issue across all builds.
Our staff is available to assist with basic troubleshooting needs. There are plenty of online videos available that are helpful with most post build issues. Technical staff is available via email by sending a message to tech@mojotone.com. You may also call our sales team to discuss build problems, dial 800-927-6656 and press 1 for sales.
Building a tube amplifier takes time, dedication, resources and most importantly... Skills! The experience of building an amp can come with some frustration, the reward of completing the build is definitely well worth your time. Please review the wiring diagram, schematic and manual (if applicable) prior to making your purchase. Mojotone will not accept any returns on amplifier kits and/or parts that have been assembled, soldered or modified.
This amp kit also comes with the following documents. Please feel free to view and/or download them:

"This is by far, the best gear purchase I've made. The way I see it, I got a hand wired Tweed Deluxe for $1600 less than what a Fender 57 Deluxe costs. And, I had a great experience doing it and it truly is my own! I had done a couple pedal kits in the last couple months, so I was confident that I could probably take this on. I watched all the Mojotone YouTube videos on building the kit and thoroughly read the instructions. I felt like I took my time and spent about 16 hours over 5 days doing it. I went pretty slow and doublechecked things as I went along and then triple checked before the first power up. I emailed Mojotone support for one clarification and they reponded the same day with a clear answer and photo. I powered on and all voltages tested within 10%. Tubes went in, more testing and 30 minutes later, I was playing it. I took it to my weekly jam last Thursday and my buddies were very impressed with the sound (volume at 10). I bought the Mojotone 12" Anthem speaker and I think it sounds great. I was going to buy a Celestion Blue, but thought why not try the Mojotone speaker. I think I'll stick with it - is sound great. Also, I got the laquered cabinet from Mojotone and the quality of that is a 10! I cannot recommend this kit and project enough. If you take your time and follow instructions diligently (and spend some time getting your soldering skills solid), you can do this. I didn't do the best job of making it look perfect, but all the connections are solid. I'll do better on my next kit (Brownface Vibroverb) in a year or two. Thanks Mojotone!!"

"I really enjoyed building this kit. The quality of the components and hardware seem top notch. This is my first amp build. I appreciate the included layout diagram, it helped a lot."

"Very therapeutic, fun build it didn't make noise at first so I kept checking my work, found the problem, then a buzzing, after 2 days of checking everything i found the problem, the problem solving was the funnest part can't wait to build the next one."

"Carefully assembled in about 3 days. Enjoyed each and every solder joint. Worked perfectly from the first. Sounds amazing!"

"This was my first build. I did not have any experience with soldering or working on amps. The directions were straight forward. Plenty of resources on YouTube to help with soldering techniques. AJ was excellent helping me troubleshooting a faulty solder joint post build. Great project to help you learn how tube amps work and more importantly help you gain confidence troubleshooting your amp. Cannot say enough with the quality and support from MoJo Tone"

"While I have previous electronic construction experience this was the first amp I've built. The kit went together well, the instructions were easy to follow and the images were very helpful for parts and wiring placement. I had a question about the capacitor complement and my email was answered quickly. The amp sounds great!"

"This was my first amp build. I had only build one BYOC Muff clone pedal before and soldered my own cables so my technical skills were 6/10. I had no prior electronics knowledge. However, before I started the build a spent a month devouring Rob Robinettes fantastic site - the basics on tube operations and his extensive 5E3 mod pages. I decided to build my take on his RobRob Deluxe with this kit that had most of the common modes: NFB switch, gain channel, cut control, cascade switch, pre-PI master and smaller longevity upgrades. Mojo's Youtube 5E3 build playlist was very helpful too. I paced myself over 1 week. My amp worked without any issues from the first power-up. Having a good soldering iron, Kester solder, multimeter and tools helped a lot. Overall this kit set off my passion for amp building. I learned a lot and continue to read from RobRob, ValveWizzar and AmpBooks! I'm now planning a Marshall JMP 50 / 2204 build. Thanks Mojo!"

"Fantastic sounding amp right out of the box. Mojo uses all super high quality top shelf parts so no need to upgrade anything. Worked perfectly the first try. I was super anal about checking every part and getting great solder joints and routing wires cleanly so it took about 12 hours but it was my first build and it was super fun. Received the kit Wednesday afternoon and the amp played a 2 hour gig Saturday afternoon. Remarkable!!!!"
