Mojotone Greyhound 12" 70W Speaker 8 OHM

Mojotone Greyhound 12" 70W Speaker 8 OHM

We wanted a new speaker that was in between the British Sound and the American Vintage sound so we came up with the Greyhound. During the design process we mainly used a Blackface Twin to test, so we think this speaker sounds particularly good in this type of amp, as well as a Peavey 5150 for high gain. As far as tone goes, the Greyhound is smoother sounding on the top end and upper midrange than a Celestion Vintage 30 but has more punch than a Jensen C12N. It has a great rock tone (specially for mid gain to high gain amplifiers) but stays clean enough for those who don't like too much speaker break-up.

Vintage30/Greyhound

"As a home recording & live user of vintage 30 speakers for many years I am very pleased with the tone of the greyhounds in a mojotone slammins 2x12 and most likely will by 2 more to blend in a 4x12 cabinet with v30’s"

Fantastic

"I have a Fender Deluxe Reverb amp and wanted an extension cabinet for the amp. I got myself and oversized 1x12 Lite cabinet and I chose this as the speaker to use. I have to say that I am very pleased with the cabinet and speaker and how well it works with the Deluxe Reverb."

Very happy with a Greyhound!

"I purchased a Greyhound to put in my Deluxe Reverb. I picked the Greyhound over the Anthem. Wow, this speaker sounds great! Very warm with lots of clarity. While waiting for my DR to return from the repair shop (servicing), I put the Greyhound in my Bassbreaker 30r. It sounded fantastic there as well. Now I'm curious about my Marshall combo. Good job Mojotone!"

My new favorite speaker !

"I had bought an Eggnater Tweaker 40 head and the speaker in my 1x12 cab just didn`t give the amp what I wanted tone wise, I tried 3 other Eminence and Celestion speakers I had and it still just wasn`t what I wanted. I saw a video demo of the Greyhound and really liked what I heard, PERFECT MATCH ! ! The gain side is thick and resonate and the bass is tight and punchy, the cleans are full and warm, I wish I had known about this speaker sooner ! ! I ran my Blackstar HT60 through it and it gave it new life as well ! ! Now I just need a ToneBone,,lol."

Killer speakers!!!!

"I built my own 2 x 12 cabinet and put a pair of these speakers in it. I use this cab to play hard rock and metal, and boy do they deliver. They are incredibly powerful and never lose their definition, no matter how hard I push them. They have an incredibly tight response, and sound very distinct and clear from the really high highs to the lowest lows. Killer speakers!!!!"

Outstanding speaker!

"I love this speaker! I pair it with a Mojotone British Vintage, each in 1x12 cabinets, and run them with a Dumble-style amp. The Greyhound is the perfect compliment- less mids, more top and bottom but not thin sounding by any means! Greater power handling gives more headroom, which really highlights the sparkling cleans of the amp. It handles the overdrive easily and with minimum coloration. Very fairly priced, a great value, but even greater tone! I've even run it with an Ampero amp modeler - it does a fine job giving life to the digital signals."

Great all rounder

"I wound up with this in a 1x12 two rock cab . I use it with my dumble clone and a blues junior . So far it’s my fave. I had a ev, emi legend, Cel cl-80. I always wonder if there is better but this one sounds damn fine! I get a great clean without compromising the od sound those amps are known for."

Highly recommend

"Great! It should be the default speaker. It is responsive, articulate, and crisp. This speaker will let the character or your amp shine through. Exceptional build quality, as you would expect from Monotone. Do check the specs and make sure your amp can accommodate the magnet, it has some size. 10 out 10 would recommend!"

Magical

"I've used all of Mojotone's speaker offerings for various amps and they are all high quality. For sweet silky blackface cleans, these are the top of the mountain. They also stay thick and stout for overdrive and breakup sounds. They have the warmth and bloom of vintage Jensen C12N's, the woodiness of old Celestions, and the volume and touch sensitivity of JBLs. I used to hunt down old vintage Chicago made Jensen C12N's, but I no longer have to do that with the Greyhounds available."

What a GREAT buy!!

"While I was at the Dallas International Guitar Fest, I frequently went by the Mojotone booth. Your VP of Sales, Andrew Simmons, was very kind and knowledgeable to what I was wanting out my sound and showed me the great speakers Mojotone had to offer. At first I was leaning towards BV-30H, but certain circumstances arose and I decided to choose this one and boy am I glad I did! Awesome mid to low end with my closed back cab and plenty of power and headroom for my needs. I’ve always bought Celestion or Eminence brand cause those are what I knew, but now I’m a believer in Mojotone!"
