Celestion Alnico Blue 12'' Speaker 16 Ohm 15W

Celestion Alnico Blue 12'' Speaker 16 Ohm 15W

This classic guitar speaker actually started life as a radio speaker that was modified specifically for use in electric guitar amplifiers. In its original incarnation as the G12 T530 it appeared in several colour variations, but it was the Blue version, fitted as standard into Vox AC30 amps, that secured its place in guitar tone history.

The Blue found favour with notable guitarists like Brian May, due to its glorious dampened attack, warm lows, mellow upper-mids and brilliant belllike top-end. When coupled with a suitable amplifier it evokes rich definition and develops beautiful musical compression when pushed. According to tone enthusiasts worldwide, the Blue is the benchmark for guitar speaker perfection.

"I put this speaker in a Tweed Deluxe 5E3 clone and it sounds great. Beautiful full clean sound and perfect break up when pushed. I use these speakers in my Vox AC 30 & AC 15 as well as 65 Black face Deluxe. This speaker makes every amp sound better."

"Like one of the other reviewers, I put this speaker in a 5E3 Tweed Deluxe. I built mine from a Mission Kit. Fabulous sounding amp with the Weber 12a125a speaker i put in. But it was frustrating in a band setting - just not enough clean headroom to be heard in a club unless pushed well into the dirt zone. I finally bit the bullet and shelled out the dough for the Celestion Blue. SO GLAD I DID! My 5E3 is much more giggable with the Blue. The Cele blue gives the extra punch and headroom I was hoping for. The 4 to 5 extra db of sensitivity over the vintage Jensen types makes the Blue quite a bit louder - just what I needed to be able to actually use the beautiful cleans the 5E3 circuit can provide. And the tone? Absolutely stunning across the whole spectrum! VERY happy with this speaker."

"Took awhile to narrow down the best sounding speaker for my 2x12; fortunately I had the sound comparison samples on Celestion's site along with a large collection from ConeTones (http://www.cdbaby.com/Artist/GTRAudio) to audition. And in both cases... at least in terms of the high-gain tones that matter to me, Blue was best. Some others I swapped out included the Celestion V30, G12-M & G12-H; the Blues were the most "mix-ready" of the four, free of hollow boxiness & barkiness, well-balanced and clear without being ice-picky. Also, these are actually made in Ipswich, England which I suppose doesn't hurt. The downside of these speakers is the low power handling (15W) and the price, of course. But you get what you pay for. Problem solvers!"
